Angry guest – we’ve all had them! No matter how irrational a guest may be, it is typically best to error on the side of caution and sympathize with the customer. An irate guest can be very dangerous! NBC News, M. Alex Johnson, reveals a classic example below.
An angry man rammed his pickup truck through the lobby and into the front desk of an Oklahoma hotel as two women dive for safety at the last second.
John Edward Parsley, 62, of Gonzalez, Texas, was held on $1 million bond Monday night in the Woods County Jail on two felony counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and one count of malicious injury to property valued at more than $1,000, according to court records.
The incident occurred Thursday in the town of Alva, about 110 miles northwest of Oklahoma City. No one was injured, but the lobby of the Alva Comfort Inn and Suites was severely damaged.
The full video, from three security cameras, was provided to NBC News by Kingson Christian, the hotel’s manager. In it, the driver of the 2006 Sierra GMC can first be seen talking with a police officer outside the hotel entrance.
The video then shows him slam the truck into drive and race through the front entrance and into the front desk, where two women frantically dive for safety.
The driver, identified by police as Parsley, backs up, stops and then pulls back in to the lobby. He says something to the women, gets out of the truck and calmly walks back to the entrance with his hands raised.
Alva police didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment details, but according to an incident report obtained late Monday by the Enid News & Eagle, police said Parsley told them he drove into the hotel because “they thought he was bluffing, and he proved he wasn’t.”
According to the incident report, Parsley was angered because his credit card was declined twice at the hotel and he had to pay cash, the newspaper reported.
Christian, the manager, told investigators that “Parsley stated it wasn’t his first bad experience with a hotel manager who was also Indian,” according to the incident report. It said Parsley then told the staff that he was going to “run his truck over them and the property.”
