INDEPENDENCE, Ohio – Authorities are investigating after a 6-year-old Cleveland boy drowned at a hotel pool Saturday night.
It happened around 7 p.m. at the Double Tree hotel in the 6200 block of Quarry Lane.
Responders found the child on the floor near the pool where a hotel employee was doing chest compressions and a bystander was performing rescue breathing.
The boy’s hands and feet were blue, according to the police report.
He later died at the hospital.
Authorities say the child was being watched at the pool by a juvenile who had warned him to stop jumping in the pool and splashing. The police report also says the juvenile told the boy not to go on the deep side of the pool without a lifesaver donut.
The juvenile stated there were “many kids and adults” in the pool at the time when a man pulled the boy out of the water.
